I am a PhD researcher in Geography and Museum Studies at King’s College London, co-supervised by the Museum of Cambridge. My work currently looks at the relationship between weather, heritage, and museum collections, specifically in the context of peatland landscapes.

2024. Our Future is Peat.

Our future is peat
was a RE-PEAT creative engagement workshop developed by me, artist Caroline Vitzhum and ecologist/educator Jamie Walker in collaboration and Historic Environment Scotland, delivered as part of the IUCN UK Peatland Programme’s Peatlands, People and Nature conference in Aviemore, Scotland. The workshop responded to a set of peatland-themed questions posed by primary school children from Wood Farm Primary School in Oxford.

After learning about the history of RSPB Insh Marshes from the wonderful Historic Environment Scotland team, participants were invited to  explore the site through three creative activities:

i) deep listening using hydrophones
ii) observational drawing with shadows and light
iii) embodied movement

These activities were designed to create engagement with the marsh, drawing on a sense of curiosity and play. Delegates then wrote their own letters in response to the school children’s questions.
